Hualalai Water Sports Top 10 Dive Sites AQUARIUM Location:
One mile south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai. Depth:
Ten to sixty-five feet. As the name implies it's the favorite "swimming hole" for many of Hawaii's beautiful tropical fish. White tip
reef sharks, octopus and frog fish are often seen at this location. Numerous lava ledges, overhangs and pukas (holes) are here to be explored. BLACK SAND ARCH
Location: One-half mile north of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth:
Ten to forty-five feet A pinnacle of lava rock surrounded by black lava sand with large coral encrusted arch. Located off a beautiful
black sand beach you will find a school of palani or surgeonfish around the archway. Always a good opportunity to see turtles (honu), white tip reef sharks sleeping under a lava ledge and tropical fish galore
. BLACK CORAL ARCH
Location: One-half mile south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth: Ten to seventy feet A large outcropping of lava measuring thirty to sixty-five feet swarming with schools of sergeant majors, tangs and raccoon butterfly fish. There are two arches with a
rare black coral formation close to a drop off where eagle and manta rays can be seen. Shallow water offers another arch with lobsters hiding in the many pukas. KUKIO BAY Location:
Two miles south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth:
Ten to forty-five feet A sixty-foot lava tube is the highlight of this location. Numerous skylights and lots of hiding places for
lobster, eel and an occasional white tip shark. Many unusual lava formations offer homes to a large variety of reef fish.
KUA BAY Location: Three miles south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth: Fifteen to fifty feet A beautiful white sand beach offers a striking contrast to the colorful creatures found here. Yellow eels, banded coral shrimp, trigger and parrot fish and many
colorful puffers give this vibrant reef a personality all its own. MAHAIULA Location:
Six miles south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth: Forty-five to one hundred feet For advanced or experienced divers only, this site is one of our deeper dives with stronger currents possible. See some of the bigger residents of our underwater Kona
neighborhood such as large sharks and rays. Schools of rare tinker butterfly fish can often be seen here on the edge of the abyss. MAKALAWENA ARCHES

variety of creatures gather to eat and the opportunity to see napping turtles make this a great destination PALANI
Location: Directly off Kahuwai Bay at Kona Village Resort approximately one-third of a mile Depth: Ten to fifty feet
Named for the giant school of surgeon fish (palani) that reside here this location also offers a wrasse and butterfly fish cleaning station where
turtles often come to be "turtle waxed"! Other frequent visitors are dolphins, white tip sharks and eagle rays.
TEACUPS Location: Five miles south of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth: Ten to forty five feet Many arches, caves and two canyons with very unusual coral formations make this a unique dive destination. Two different types of coral fused as one
offer home to octopus, eels and turtles. WASH ROCK Location:
One mile north of Kona Village Resort/Four Seasons Hualalai Depth: Twenty to fifty five feet Large lava rock just above the surface gives this dive site its name. Porcupine puffers, surgeon fish, butterfly fish and lobster make this destination an always
